I don't have much interest in pushing the mileage, by I am really dying to run fast and hard. |
I'm finally scheduled to visit the Doctor for a followup on my achilles injury on July 30th. It continues to feel pretty good, but my ankles feel week, and my calves continue to be quite sore.
I had calf problems in college - at one point requiring some extremely painful physical therapy. In recent years my calves have been sore to the touch, but never sore during running except after racing wearing spikes. I am quite surprised that this hasn't improved in the slightest with 2 months of rest. It sounds like MFR (myofascial release) is in order. I figure the calf problems must be related in a way to the achilles issues.
I am definately looking forward to doing some running again. I am an easy 15 pounds above race weight right now, and my pants don't fit any more. Once I am back to running, I think I am just going to run whatever I feel like for a while instead of trying to do perfect training or follow some schedule. I don't have much interest in pushing the mileage, by I am really dying to run fast and hard.
